🛡️ Chronicle Step Recorder does not send your data anywhere.

There is no server, no account and no analytics. Everything it records stays in your own browser until you export it or clear it.

📋 What the extension records

Only while you have pressed Start Recording, and only on pages it is permitted to run on:

• 🖱️ The elements you click and the fields you change, described in words
• 🧭 Page navigation within the site, recorded as the web address and the page title
• 📸 Screenshots of the visible tab, if screenshots are enabled
• ⚠️ Errors the page reports to its own developer console
• 🌐 Network requests that failed, recorded as method, address, status code and duration
• 🔌 Live connections the page opens, recorded as address, whether they succeeded, how long they lasted and how many messages arrived
• 🎥 A screen video, and your microphone, only if you start those yourself

When recording is stopped, the extension stops collecting immediately.

💾 Where the data goes

Into your browser's local extension storage on this computer. It is never transmitted. The extension makes no network requests of its own: it has no backend to make them to.

Recorded steps stay until you press Clear steps or begin a new recording, which replaces them. Exports (Markdown, JSON, Word, PDF, video) are ordinary file downloads saved wherever your browser puts downloads.

ℹ️ Once you share an exported file, its contents travel with it. That part is under your control, not ours.
